A lovely lady came to visit us at the State Fair Of Texas 2007. This lady was rather pensive and then decided to let me know why she wanted to purchase a shirt....Her recently departed husband of many years had been buried in his Texas Shirt and she wanted one just like it so she would have a shirt to bring back pleasant memories of their lives together.
DO YOU HAVE A SPARE TEXAS SHIRT?
Darling, Adele made a special trip on Thursday to be sure she got her size and add to the one she already has ...she left a lengthy voice mail and hoped we were here because it is senior day and she was catching the bus right then. Even though she is coming to the fair again next Thursday, she WANTED her shirt today and was willing to ride the bus (seniors get in free Thursdays) and walk to our building just in HOPES we would be there. She saw the red, white and blue from the door, hurried over to give me a huge hug and after a bit of a chat, she left with her new flag shirt. She told me that she has always worn her shirt (she purchased two years ago) over another blouse so as to not get it dirty, and has washed it and it still looks new. She wanted another JUST IN CASE this one ever wore out. I should have offered to sell her a Texas backpack, so she could carry the second around in case of an emergency.
SOMETIMES FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE OTHER PLANS
A precious gentleman came in to purchase two "have to have" things. He purchased a solid red shirt and was so proud of the way he looked in the mirror. Then he purchased a book bag for his 17" laptop computer. I warned him that the bag actually measured 16.5 inches and if it fits he would need to purchase a computer sleeve to protect the computer. He HAD to have the bag... with a great deal of influence from his wife and daughter who really HOPED the computer would not fit, so they could have the bag.
